How To: Tracking Your Affiliates

Understand how ClickBridge tracks affiliate-driven traffic and converts clicks into commissions.

🔗 How ClickBridge Tracks Affiliate Clicks

How does ClickBridge record an affiliate click?

When an affiliate shares a tracked link and a buyer clicks it, ClickBridge records the click with the affiliate's unique ID, a timestamp, referrer data, and device information. This is stored in your manufacturer dashboard and attributed to the specific affiliate who generated the link.

No personal buyer data is stored — only aggregate click behavior tied to the affiliate's code. You can see which affiliates are driving traffic to your listings without accessing any buyer-identifying information.

What does an affiliate link look like?

Affiliate links follow the format /go/[code] — for example, /go/marcus-youtube-tinyhomes. Each code is tied to a specific affiliate's account and cannot be transferred or spoofed.

Affiliates can create custom link labels in their dashboard to make them easier to manage and identify. The underlying tracking code remains unique and non-transferable.

📅 The 180-Day Attribution Window

What does the 180-day attribution window mean for manufacturers?

The attribution cookie lasts 180 days from the first click. If a buyer clicks an affiliate link in January and completes a home purchase in June, the referring affiliate still receives credit — and you owe commission on that sale.

This long window reflects the reality that home purchases take months to close. Buyers research extensively, visit properties multiple times, and secure financing over extended periods. The 180-day window ensures affiliates are fairly compensated for their role in generating the lead, even when the sale happens well after the initial click.

Planning note: Since commissions can be triggered up to 180 days after a click, manufacturers should budget for this extended obligation when setting marketing and commission spending plans.

Does last-click-wins mean I could pay for traffic I didn't originate?

ClickBridge uses last-click attribution — if a buyer clicks multiple affiliate links before purchasing, the last click gets the credit. If a buyer clicks Affiliate A's link in January, then clicks Affiliate B's link in March and buys in April, Affiliate B gets the commission.

This prevents disputes over attribution and keeps the system simple. It also means you only pay commission on sales that have a clear, recent referral touchpoint — not every interaction a buyer had with your brand.

💰 What a Commission Event Looks Like

How is a commission event triggered?

When a buyer completes a home purchase and the manufacturer confirms the closed sale in the ClickBridge dashboard, a commission event is recorded. The affiliate whose link was last-clicked receives credit for the sale.

You will receive an email notification each time a commission event is confirmed on your account. Commissions are calculated as your set rate applied to the home structure price only — land is excluded from the calculation, as are any site-built additions, real estate fees, or other transaction components.

What triggers commission — and what doesn't?

Only a completed Personal Property Home purchase credited to an affiliate link generates a commission owed to that affiliate.

These do not trigger commission:

  • Clicks (views or visits)
  • Form submissions or inquiries
  • Land purchases or real estate transactions
  • Site-built homes or traditional real property
  • Leads that don't convert to a closed sale

Only the home structure itself — manufactured, modular, tiny, prefab, dome, log, container, or park model — generates commission when sold to a buyer who clicked an affiliate link.

📊 Monitoring Your Affiliate Network

How do I see which affiliates are driving traffic?

Your manufacturer dashboard shows per-affiliate click counts, lead volume, and conversion status. You can see which affiliates are most active, which listings are generating interest, and the status of pending vs. closed commissions.

This data updates in real time as clicks come in. You can filter by date range, specific affiliates, or individual listings to get a detailed picture of your network's performance.

Can I see pending vs. completed commissions?

Yes. The dashboard separates pending commissions (awaiting payout cycle close) from completed payouts. You'll see the full history of commission events tied to your account, including the affiliate who generated each sale, the home structure price, and the commission amount earned.

Pending commissions can be adjusted or reversed if a sale falls through. Once a payout is issued, the commission is final.

🔒 Proof-of-Ownership Tracking

How does ClickBridge prevent link spoofing?

Each affiliate link carries a unique tracking code that is non-transferable and cannot be spoofed. ClickBridge records the full click context — IP address, user agent, referrer — at the time of each click.

Manufacturers can use this data as evidence of affiliate-driven sales if disputes arise. The click record serves as verifiable proof that a sale originated from a specific affiliate's promotional effort.

What fraud detection measures protect my commission budget?

ClickBridge runs automated fraud detection on all clicks and conversions. Suspicious activity — such as bot clicks, self-referrals, or manipulated attribution — is flagged and reviewed by the ClickBridge team before any commission is credited.

Flags are reviewed manually to prevent legitimate affiliates from being penalized. Fraudulent clicks that are confirmed are dismissed and do not generate commission. This protects your budget from invalid traffic while ensuring legitimate affiliate activity is credited properly.
